Julien Delval
Julien Delval was born in 1972 in Paris. After studying at the School of Decorative Arts, he learned his trade as an illustrator by working in the role-playing game industry for Multisim editions. The connections he made there led him to create numerous covers for adult and young adult novels. Still present in the gaming world, primarily with publishers Days of Wonder and Sand Castle Games, and after a foray into comics, he has focused since 2013 on creating more personal large-format works, with the support of the Daniel Maghen gallery, which held a major exhibition of his work in 2023. He depicts ancient, mythological, and fantastical worlds inspired by classical painting and 20th-century imagery. His works were also exhibited at the MUDAAC and the BMI in Épinal in 2021, as well as in Chaumont in 2022. A monograph of his work was released in 2019 by Caurette editions. With the same publisher, he illustrated Shakespeare’s Othello, published in 2022, and A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2026. A sketchbook is also available.
Come find him at the Caurette editions stand to meet him and have your copies of his books signed.
